SRRPL is a nature-based carbon removal project for sustainable land-use, replanting degraded rubber farms to enable carbon removal and greenhouse gas reduction.
About
SRRPL is over 30 years in the making – tracking the career of our founder in the rubber industry. It is a nature-based carbon removal project through reforestation with the goal of replanting Liberia’s estimated 600,000 hectares of degraded, overgrown rubber plantations.
The goal of SRRPL’s reforestation project
-
Enable carbon removal and sequestration by reconstituting “forests” on degraded and degrading rubber farms
-
Promote agroforestry by supporting smallholder farming communities
-
Provide agronomic and extension services to farmers
-
Protect high carbon and high conservation value forest
-
Convert the harvested “waste” rubber wood into high-quality furniture

The Project
Phase I will target the counties in Liberia’s southeast, where, according to the World Food Program, most of Liberia’s food insecure people live. “The major underlying causes of poverty and food insecurity in the region include “…lack of employment/ livelihood opportunities, currency depreciation, and low level of access to education.” This project will address this.
Phase I by the Numbers

Over 1000 Farmers Enrolled
Over 300 Direct Jobs Created
Over 10,000 Hectares Targeted for Replanting
Over 50,000 tons of Carbon to be Removed Annually
